Putco honoured for promoting gender equality

Putco has been honoured for its programmes in women empowerment in the transport, logistics and mobility sector. The company was one of those recognised and awarded a certificate by Standard Bank Top Women Awards judging panel for 2026. The judges assessed companies based on the integration of women’s leadership in technical, operations, training, technology and innovation.

Some of the programmes that Putco has undertaken include the exclusive recruitment of female bus drivers in its Skills Development Learnership as well as the New Driver Development Programmes. Putco’s female drivers have for the past two years (2024 and 2025) reached the top 10 of the Hollard Highway Heroes in the Bus Category, displaying exceptional driving skills on a daily basis.

Further to this, Putco’s average female intake for apprenticeship since 2022 is 70% female. The development and recruitment programme has yielded four female workshop managers.

At board level, the Larimar Group (which is Putco’s parent company, the composition is six females and two males. The Chairperson is renowned entrepreneur Professor Anna Mokgokong whose leadership has resulted in the notable success of the group with Putco providing an improved level of service in terms of reliability and the safety of its passengers.
