The 14 ladies who forms part of this Learnership group successfully passed the same rigorous Selection process that all PUTCO’s new drivers undergo.

They received 4 months of theoretical training followed by another 4 months practical driving training under the supervision of the highly experienced Driver Instructors based at the Larimar Training Academy before they were released to the Business Units to commence their route training under the watchful eye of our Mentor (Sheppard) Drivers. Once they are found ‘competent’ they will operate shifts on their own.

Putco, a member of The Larimar Group, offers apprenticeship programmes towards artisan diesel mechanic and auto electrician qualifications

larimar2As part of the Larimar Group, PUTCO is currently training 121 Appren-tices enabling them to write their trade tests in the trades of either Diesel Mechanic or Auto Electrician and thus becoming Qualified Arti-sans. Currently there are 46 females and 75 males in training. The 3 year, full time, training programme focusses on both theoretical train-ing and practical training components. The theoretical training is pre-sented at the Larimar Training Academy based in Lea Glen, Roodepoort and the practical training exposure is provided inside the various busi-ness units (Mamelodi, Greater Soweto, Sandfontein, Comuta/Selby and Roseville) considering the Apprentice’s residential address.

As part of a special project; PUTCO is committed to recruiting 30-50 suitably qualified applicants from the Mpumalanga West / Moloto Cor-ridor area for its next intake in March/April 2015. We operate an exten-sive service in this areas and we therefore have a huge requirement for well trained and qualified Artisans to maintain our fleet of buses, there-by ensuring the safety of our larimar3passengers. PUTCO is looking at similar projects in other communities in future.
Interested applicants who have a minimum qualification of N2 and / or matric with the subjects, Mathematics, Physical Science, a Trade Theo-ry subject and any fourth subject, can send their CV’s to
