Putco has taken a very difficult decision to increase fares by 10% from 1 June 2026. The company has held off on increasing fares over the past few months since the fuel hikes were implemented. However, operational costs in the transport industry have escalated at a high rate, forcing us to make this tough decision. A 10% fare increase is the lowest that the company could implement.
We understand that the cost of living has gone up. However, we have to increase fares in order to continue providing a good quality service that will ensure that you travel to work safely and on time. Despite this increase, Putco remains one of the most affordable ways to travel. Posters with an exact rand value increase will be posted inside buses by Friday 22 May 2026.
The new increase will apply to trips bought from 1 June 2026. All trip validity periods remain the same.
