This World Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the call to action is early early testing and diagnosis, treatment and for communities to be deliberate about sharing factual information about the disease and to understand the needs of affected individuals and families.
United Nations (UN) statistics show that 2.4 million women were diagnosed with the disease and nearly 700 000 died around the world in 2024. These are not just numbers. Amongst those women, could be your sister, your mother, your aunt, your cousin or child. So, join in the awareness campaign and spread the word about breast cancer.
Some signs to look for or note in yourself or your loved ones are; changes in breast shapes, lumps, thickening and bloody fluid coming out from the breasts amongst others.
The message is clear; act as soon as there are changes, get treatment early and provide support to breast cancer patients because behind every diagnosis is a person, a family and a unique journey.
