Driver training to ensure your safety

GOLDEN RULES FOR EVERY DRIVER TO SAFE GUARD AND NOTIFY THE PUBLIC OF A STATIONARY BUS ON OR NEAR THE ROAD SURFACE DURING A BREAKDOWN OR ACCIDENT.

  1. Where possible, to drive off the road surface and park the bus at least 1.5 meters away from the road surface onto the shoulder of the road
  2. Engage the hand brake securely
  3. Turn the steering wheel as far left as possible
  4. Switch on the hazard lights
  5. Immediately, within 10 minutes, place the emergency triangles as follows:
    5.1. One on the traffic side at least 3 meters from the bus in the direction of approaching traffic (behind the bus)
    5.2. One at least 30 meters from the bus in the centre of the traffic lane or shoulder occupied by the bus in the direction of the approaching traffic (behind the bus)
    5.3. One at least 30 meters from the bus in the centre of the traffic lane or shoulder occupied by the bus in the di-rection away from the approaching traffic (in front of the bus)

    driver-training25.4. Call the transport office and inform them of the exact location of the bus and breakdown
    5.5. Assist with traffic and obtain any 3rd party details if necessary
    5.6. Remain at the bus until company assistance arrive
