PUTCO's core focus for 2008 and beyond is to focus our attention on the matter of career advancement as well as succession planning. We currently sponsor bursaries to staff for further study. However, from 2009 onwards, we want to extend this offer to University students who wish to study in the specific fields related to our strategic objectives. We are inviting applications in September 2008 for the year ahead.
We look forward to this as it is an opportunity to attract and retain new talent for our company.

Statistics on Training
According to our latest Work Place Skills Plan submitted in June 2008, 2389 male and 435 females will receive training during the period of 1st April 2008 to 31st March 2009.
Our Annual Training Report records that 1 541 men and 99 women received training between the 1st April 2007 and 31st March 2008.
Skills Spend
Our skills spend for the previous financial period, July 2007 to June 2008 was about R11,5 million. Our future expenditure for the current financial period July 2008 to June 2009 is expected to be approximately R16 million.

- Driver Training – includes new drivers; learnerships; refresher and remedial
- Technical Training – includes artisans; operatives A; B and for artisan assistants
- IT Training – includes basic computer training; MS Outlook; MS Word and MS Excel

- PA/Secretarial Skills
- Customer Services Training – front office staff; call centre and drivers
With this line up we will be able to achieve organizational wide skills enhancement across the board as well as improve productivity which will lead to an improved Company! We will be working with all levels of staff in providing advice and career guidance regarding skills development!
